Finding post ideas.

Blog post ideas 150x150 Finding post ideas.Coming up with something new and original to write about on your blog can be challenging.

Some days you can’t seem to come up with any ideas, other days you may have so many ideas it is hard to focus on just one.

The tips below should help with finding new ideas and hanging onto them:

Always have a notebook handy.

Whether you browsing on the internet or taking a stroll in the park, you will come across interesting subjects which could be turned into posts or ideas will develop in your mind. But they don’t always hang around for long, others will come and nudge them out of the way. Also, writing down our ideas can clear the way for other ideas to grow.

On any given day I usually have about 5-10 ideas for posts, maybe only 1 or 2 will make it to post. But without this method I would not be posting so regularly.

Use PostRank.

One method that I found to generate ideas came from reading Kikolani’s e-book on blog promotion. She recommends using a service called PostRank. On this site we can search for a popular blog which is in our niche or the general topic we are writing about, and find the posts which are popular and gain a lot of responses on social media.

This way we have a better idea of what others are reading and responding to. We then have something to focus on and can write our own post in that area.

An additional benefit of using Post Rank is the ability to add our site, then you can easily track which of your own posts are most popular.

Originality.

When I first read this tip, I was worried that I could end up just following everyone else and not being original. But I realized that while the originality of your content is vital, the originality of your topic is not. It is really just about finding out what people want to read. You can always mix in some posts about new developments and thinking which will help you appear innovative and cutting edge (if that’s an angle you are going for).

Good tips and thanks for sharing. I always bring a notebook with me whenever I go, and it works perfect for me. But sometimes I will find myself stuck in the middle everytime I start to write my post, just a matter of expressing my writing.
