Look Ma, I’m Listbuilding.
Its been a long time coming, but I have finally added an opt-in box to my blog so I can provide a newsletter service and build a list.
In my last post I wrote about trying out the free listbuilding/newsletter service: MailChimp, and that is what I have used to create the opt-in box on the right hand side of my blog.
As you can see, it is pretty basic. I have used Aweber in the past, and their opt-in boxes are more ornate. There are more options to change the appearance and style of the opt-in box with Aweber.
MailChimp does give you more options when creating larger sign-up forms for full opt-in pages, but for the small boxes that fit on the side of blogs the design options seem limited. Saying that, I have not fully explored all functions on MailChimp, there’s probably more features that I just havant found. I’m not so much a technophobe as a techno-slacker so I tend to just go for whatever is easiest when doing this kind of stuff.
Anyhoo, I may go back to Aweber, but I just wanted to check that MailChimp was a reasonable, free option for list building. I think it is designed more as Newsletter provider than an autoresponder but it does both. The next step is to test out the mailing functions when I get sign-ups.
If I do change to Aweber, I will update this post accordingly.
